Roger Black MBE – Fitter Schools Ambassador

“Fitter Schools is a fantastic initiative to emphasize the importance of being physically active amongst this generation of school children. These young people are the future of our country and it is essential that they realise and understand the positive impact fitness can have on their health and wellbeing.

I particularly like the fact that, through this initiative, the whole school gets involved. This encourages a great team spirit and teaches children that by working together everyone achieves more. It also shows that keeping fit isn’t just for the sporty, physically gifted kids, everyone can participate and benefit.

Adopting a healthy, active lifestyle has so many added benefits beyond fitness alone. It can contribute to a more positive outlook on life, self-discipline, self-control plus focus and drive – these are all essential life skills.

I am very proud to be involved with such a life changing initiative and look
forward to seeing how all the schools get on.”

Ian Wright

“We’ve got a major obesity, health and fitness problem in Britain. Unless we do something now, 60 per cent of us will be obese by 2050.

We have to teach our kids why it’s important to be fit and show them how. It’s about being a role model, getting off the couch and getting fit together! Getting fit is all about making simple changes in your daily life, setting achievable goals and knowing that you will be able to sustain them.

That’s the SAS approach. Simple, Achievable, Sustainable. - Easy.”
