THE FITTER SCHOOLS UK CHALLENGE 2010
Get Started!
The Fitter Schools UK Challenge is a FREE initiative open to every school in the UK. The 2010 Fitter Schools Ambassador is Olympic Gold Medallist Roger Black MBE. (When entering your scores, be sure to only enter your total score. E.g. class A 3,170 + class B 5,825 = Total of 8,995)
Special Educational Needs Fit For Sport’s Fitter Schools UK Challenge is designed to ensure that anyone can take part and is inclusive for all children. Please note each challenge can be adapted to the child’s specific or additional needs and submitted as the first assessment score (A1). For example, the throw & catch challenge could be adapted by decreasing the distance for each throw. As long as the second assessment (A2) is completed under the same conditions as the first assessment (A1), the scores will be valid and can be submitted.
If you have any queries or need ideas on how to adapt the challenges please do not hesitate to contact a member of the Fitter Schools Team on 0845 4563233 or email

- Good Luck from the Fitter Schools Challenge Team
Roger Black says of his involvement in the challenge:
“Fitter Schools is a fantastic initiative to emphasize the importance of being physically active amongst this generation of school children. These young people are the futureof our country and it is essential that they realise and understand the positive impact fitness can have on their health and wellbeing.
I particularly like the fact that, through this initiative, the whole school gets involved. This encourages a great team spirit andteaches children that by working together everyone achieves more. It also shows that keeping fit isn’t just for the sporty, physically gifted kids, everyone can participate and benefit."
In line with Fit For Sport’s SAS approach (Simple, Achievable & Sustainable), Children will take part in 3 simple Challenge Exercises; once at the beginning of term and then again at the end. Pupils’ improvement or aggregate scores are added together to determine the school’s overall performance. The school with the highest scores in each category is the winner.
