Extended Schools

Our flexible Extended Schools Service provides parents with the peace of mind that your child/ren have access to a variety of opportunities and support beyond the school day, as well as wider school support.

Our OFSTED registered Extended Schools provision brings together child care, education and health services that helps build a strong network of support and opportunities for families - particularly important for vulnerable children.

Sample Extended Schools Programme

Below is a sample programme of activities for Breakfast/After School Clubs which Fit For Sport currently delivers within our various school partnerships.

Sample ‘Breakfast Club’ programme:

Time    Activity
7.30am    Staff arrive – set up
8.00am    Registration & Morning Workout
8.15am    Healthy Breakfast Buddies
8.30am    Healthy Heart Circuits
(worksheets, activity, challenges, Displays and education)
8.45am    Dismissal from Breakfast Club/School starts

Sample Breakfast Menu:
• Cereals (Varied Selection)  • Toast  • Fruit   • Yoghurt  • Crumpets  • Fruit  • Sultanas  • Muffins  • Bagels  • Fromage Frais  • Unsweetened Fruit Juice  • Semi-skimmed milk

Sample ‘Extended School Club’: 3.15-6.00pm

3.15pm    Registration & Ice breakers
3.30pm    Multi Sports sessions/Sports Specific (by age groups)
4.15pm    Snack/Drinks break
4.45pm    Art Attack/Homework Heroes/Memory Games
5.30pm    ‘Keeping the Future Fit’ (Healthy Heart Circuits)
6.00pm    Dismissal from After School Clubs

Food Snacks/Sample Menu include:
• Cereal   • Toast  • Fruit  • Yoghurt  • Salad  • Rice Crackers  • Fruit  • Bread  • Pasta 
• Bagels  • Pretzels  • Vegetables  • Beans  • Sandwich Fillings  • Baked Potatoes 
• ‘Make your own’ pizzas  • Eggs (Omelettes; boiled eggs)

Food at Extended Schools
At Breakfast & After School Clubs children are provided with a light meal and snack. Drinking water is always available

Food & menus are site specific

Activities at Extended Schools

We offer a diverse range of activities across our Out of School Clubs. We actively encourage the children to express their interests and favourite games/Activities, Giving them a voice to what activities are available at their After School Club-

Activities include:

  • Free Play
  • Homework Area
  • Quiet areas for Reading / board games
  • Circle Games
  • Quiz’s
  • Dance / Drama
  • Healthy Lifestyle Activities (Healthy Passports)


All children are encouraged to Participate, Respect others and try their best. Most importantly, we make sure all children’s activities and sessions are FUN!

Staff at Extended Schools

Each Extended Schools has the following staff:

  • A manager who has a minimum level 3 qualification
  • HALES / Activity Leaders are a minimum level 2 qualified
  • All Fit For Sport staff are DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) checked
  • Fit For Sport supply the required number of staff based upon OFSTEDs regulations

Staff to child ratios are:
Children under 5 yrs. incl.         One adult to eight children (1:8)
Children over 8yrs                    One adult to ten children (1:10)

ALL Fit For Sport Staff hold the following qualifications:

  • Minimum Level 2 Qualification in Teaching Physical Activity to Children
  • Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) disclosure
  • List 99 check
  • Paediatric First Aid
  • Child Protection / Safe Guarding Children course (NSPCC)
  • OFSTED training
  • Children’s Behavioural Management Training
  • SEN Training
