Our dedicated and qualified team have been providing school, family and community programmes for over twenty-five years; supporting and delivering in school, after school and holiday camp activities across the UK and training hundreds of Children’s Activity Professionals each year through our training academy. There are over 700 Fit For Sport Activity Leaders and Assistants working across the UK with thousands of children each week. All staff receive training and complete annual professional development to ensure they are up to date with safeguarding, best practice and the latest industry knowledge to engage and educate young people.
Throughout Dean Horridge’s career he has made it his mission to tackle child inactivity. As head of PE in a primary school he was disappointed at the lack of physical activity his pupils undertook during the school holidays. Realising the effects that inactivity was having on his pupils, Dean started Fit For Sport weekend and holiday activity clubs for school children in 1991, these continue to operate today with over 100 activity camps nationwide. Over the 26 years Fit For Sport has evolved and grown to employ over 700 staff, support over 350 schools, and train 23% of the UK’s activity leaders.
Dean lives in London with his wife, three children and two dogs. He is passionate about the need to get more children active and you can check out his views by following him on twitter @DeanHorridge.
