Fit For Sport's Natalie Richardson has joined colleague Ben Clarke in the UK’s FootGolf team to take on the USA in next year’s Jansen Cup, FootGolf’s equivalent of the Ryder Cup.
Natalie received the call from Gareth May, head of development at UK FootGolf, late last Monday, that’s despite only playing four events this year due to her football commitments.
Having only started to play the sport competitively this year, the former Watford and Queens Park Rangers star took to it like a duck to water, winning her first ever competition. Since then, the 24-year-old has become an ambassador for UK FootGolf and Course captain at Watford FootGolf Watford Academy - Penfold Park.
“I was so happy to receive the phone call stating I had been the captain’s pick from all the women in the UK”, said Natalie.
“I am overwhelmed and cannot wait to get out there and play on a course which looks amazing. It’s a once in a life time opportunity and I feel privileged to represent the UK next year in LA.”
The Jansen Cup is a biennial event which will honour Michael Jansen, one of the creators of the new craze and it will take place May 22nd- 24th, 2017 at the Desert Willow Golf Resort in Palm Desert, CA – the home course of the American FootGolf League.
Natalie, who currently works as a Regional Coordinator for Fit For Sport where she inspires the next generation of children to lead active lives, is joined on the team by her colleague at Fit For Sport, Ben Clarke, who has been selected as the UK’s number one player.
Both Natalie and Ben have worked as site managers for Fit For Sport at two leading venues during the holilday periods this year where there have been a record number of attendees. This winter, Fit For Sport Activity Camps are back, to book your child's place at your local site, visit www.fitforsport.co.uk/activity-camps/find-your-nearest-camp.
