The UK’s leading experts in educating and engaging children and young people through physical activity, Fit For Sport, have been shortlisted for the prestigious ukactive Flame Awards in the categories of ‘Supplier of the Year’ and ‘Shaping Young Lives’.
The ukactive Flame Awards have been running for four years. The Supplier of the Year award recognises organisations who enable more people to lead active lives, by demonstrating an excellent understanding of their client’s needs, and placing a high value on their client’s satisfaction and loyalty.
Whilst the ‘Shaping Young Lives’ award recognises programmes or products which have significantly improved the lives of young people through getting them active with a demonstrable impact/outcome.
The ‘Supplier of the Year’ award is judged on a number of criteria but a large weight is placed on the words from Fit For Sport’s clients themselves who are asked to fill in an in-depth survey about Fit For Sport’s performance as a supplier.
Meanwhile, the ‘Shaping Young Lives’ award identifies positive outcomes for young people who participate in a particular project or programme. Over the past two years, the Sandwell Active Schools Programme, which is run by Fit For Sport, has made a positive impact on the activity and fitness levels of over 20,000 children across the 97 primary schools throughout the Borough of Sandwell.
Dean Horridge, CEO and Founder, Fit For Sport said, “After winning ‘Supplier of the Year’ award in 2014, and achieving runner-up in 2016, we are delighted to be shortlisted for this award in 2017. We are lucky to work with some of the best organisations in the leisure industry and have an ongoing commitment to our clients in striving to meet their needs, with the shared goal of keeping the children in our care safe, active and happy. We look forward to continuing and growing these partnerships over the coming months and years.”
Dean, who also chairs ukactive kids, added: “The ‘Shaping Young Lives’ award is so important, and we are absolutely delighted to be shortlisted. At Fit For Sport, our ethos is around giving every child the opportunity to be active, regardless of their sporting ability or skill. You don’t have to be good at sports to be active! And the Sandwell Active Schools Programme demonstrates this perfectly – not all of the children who take part are good at sport, but they are all active and improving on their fitness levels as a result. It has been great to work with such dedicated individuals from Sandwell Borough Council for the past two years and I look forward to continuing this in the future, and getting more generations fit and active.”
The award winners will be announced in a ceremony on 27th June 2017.
